• Learn about the Community and Citywide Education Council Elections

  Dear Parent,

   

  2023 is an Education Council Election year. For the first time, each Community Education Council will have a dedicated seat for a D75 parent. The 32 Community Education Councils and 4 Citywide Education Councils make important decisions regarding your child’s education.

   

  Learn about the councils, the election and how to run for a seat on an Education Council by attending a virtual (Zoom) Information Session. See attached flyer.

• Virtual Elementary School Admissions Event - all NYC families with children born in 2018, 2019, and 2020

  During each online event, we will discuss:  

  • How to learn about schools and programs.  
  • How to navigate MySchools.nyc, the online school directory and application system. 
  • How to get ready now to apply later. 

  The content of each event is the same, but different interpretation services will be provided for different events, as follows: 

  • December 8, 2022, 2pm to 3pm | Event held in English. Interpretation provided in: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Urdu
  • December 13, 2022, 2pm to 3pm | Event held in English. Interpretation provided in: Bangla, Korean, Spanish
  • January 12, 2023, 6pm to 7pm | Event held in English. Interpretation provided in: Arabic, Haitian Creole, Russian 
  • January 26, 2023, 6pm to 7pm | Event held in English. Interpretation provided in: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Urdu 
  • February 1, 2023, 2pm to 3pm | Event held in English. Interpretation provided in: Arabic, Haitian Creole, Russian 
  • February 15, 2023, 6pm to 7pm | Event held in English. Interpretation provided in: Bangla, Korean, Spanish

  Greetings P.S. 54 Families,

  It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the new Acting Principal, of P.S. 54 Hillside school. It is an honor to be joining a thriving school community that is already equipped with great systems and structures to support students’ success. It is my goal to continue to improve and strive for excellence.

  I am passionate about education. I have been part of the Department of Education for over twenty years. Prior to being selected for this position, I have served as a teacher, literacy coach, independent peer validator, After School Professional Development Program supervisor, and Assistant Principal. My work is driven by my core values of integrity, respect, kindness, and perseverance. I am thrilled to utilize my experience and skills as an educational leader at P.S. 54 Hillside.

  Along with the staff and parents, I will work hard to continue the success established at P.S. 54 Hillside school by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. Together we will focus on the use of data to inform instruction with an emphasis on social, and emotional growth, and provide exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities that focus on assuring the rigor of instruction in meeting the Next Generation Learning Standards.

  During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide all students the best opportunities in preparing for the world, ready to master challenges placed in their path. As Acting Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input.
